YOUTH FOR CHRIST UPDATE

FIND OUT WHAT’S BEEN HAPPENING AROUND YOUTH FOR CHRIST OVER THE PAST FEW MONTHS…

MOVE 2025

In August, at Move camp, a young boy boy, who Marian brought, shared that for the first time, he felt accepted and part of a community. He had prayed for a sign but felt that he didn’t get his answer though he still felt God’s love through the kindness and friendship he experienced at the camp. Hearing this, someone gently suggested that perhaps feeling such a strong sense of connection was God’s sign to him. The boy paused, smiled, and said, “Yeah, I guess you’re right—maybe I did get my sign after all.”

NOMAD CAGE SOCCER

The Nomad team were a huge help in promoting the launch of our youth group and the Alpha Youth series, and their encouragement has meant so much to me.
— Anna - Parish Pastoral Worker

At the Dunshaughlin Harvest Festival we partnered with the local parish to help advertise the launch of a new youth group. Throughout the weekend, over 100 young people engaged with the Cage where they also heard about the opportunity to join the new group. It was an incredible time of connection and outreach. This kind of partnership is where we see our mission come to life—standing alongside churches and parishes that are passionate about reaching teenagers in their community.

CHAMPIONING YOUTH LEADERS

Along with his group from the Sligo region, Claudio was able to bring young people from Castlebar, thanks to John—a passionate youth leader who rallied nine young people. Although John couldn’t attend himself, he was thrilled to see his group impacted. One of the young people later shared on Instagram, “I came back a different person.”

In Ballina, Rosemonde—a dedicated youth leader and mum—has continued to grow local ministry. In July, Claudio supported her by bringing NOMAD and the youth worship band to a local event, which she said was a huge encouragement to her. Again, getting to stand alongside these churches or parishes who are inspired to reach teenagers is such a privilege.

Where are we at work?

  • In Sligo, we are proactively working to establish a local steering group to help give direction and rootedness to local YFC work. Claudio is actively working to establish a weekly missional drop-in program along with a summer kids camp outreach in parternship with local churches.

  • In Longford, Marian is also proactively working to establish a local steering group. Her work in two local schools, various Church of Ireland parish and diocesan activities, and her discipleship and mentoring of young people is both exciting and rewarding.

  • In Mullingar, Claire has been able to build important connections with local schools and the Roman Catholic parish yielding exciting opportunities to reach even more young people there.

Another 30% supports our essential behind-the-scenes work—administration, communications, and fundraising—which keeps the ministry running smoothly and sustainably.

The remaining 20% covers practical needs like office space (10%), travel and ministry vehicles (5%), and resources for events and outreach (5%).
